Amazoogle in the catalog(ue)

ln_ribbon_05.gifThe Olympics are coming to London in 2012. I was looking at some of the Olympics material, and spent some time looking at the University of East London site. UeL will be a venue for some events.
I notice that the catalog gives you the option to select Amazon and Google to search in parallel with the local bibliographic data. Other resources can also be included.
The system is provided by Talis.

  1. The Open University MyOpenLibrary interface is another HE library system that has a Google search option.

As an Amazon webservice learning exercise, I toyed with a v unofficial search of OU course books that cross-links to amazon and abebooks. (NB the keyword search only works on single keywords or exact match keyphrases…)

The course search demo embeds google results in the response (e.g. search for a 3rd level course on politics)(again, produced when learning about the Google webservice API)
