  1. I agree with your opinion for metadata collection. There are many ways to look at collections.
    To me, the distinguish between metadata and data is fuzzy due to their nature. Data might be metadata as well depending on applications, and vice versa. For some metadata standards such as METS and MPEG 21, they are metadata, but with data encoded.

    In this world of networked information, there are many metadata standards and current practices on interoperability is loose. We need an “industrial revolution” for information management.
