University rankings

 •  Categories: Miscellaneous

Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Higher Education provides its Academic Ranking of World Universities based on nobel prize winners, citation studies and other publication counts.

I am not sure how used or useful the list is, although it is interesting in that it is international. Such lists tend to be national in scope.

Eight of the top ten are in the US; the other two are Oxford and Cambridge. 15 of the top twenty are from the US. Additional non-US universities are Tokyo, and Imperial and UCL in the UK. The survey ranks Harvard, Stanford, CalTech and Berkeley as the top four.
